Legion of Mary

Who We Are
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide association of the catholic laity who faithfully practice their religion and, "with the sanction of the Church and the under and powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate. Mediatrix of All Graces...have formed themselves into a legion for service in the warfare which is perpetually waged by the Church against the world and all its powers. (Legion of Mary Handbook, page 9.)

What We Do
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members, developed by prayer and active cooperation under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary's and the Church's work of crushing the heads of serpent and advancing the reign of the Church. (p.11-12)
Membership

The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholics who:
- Faithfully Practice their religion.
- Have the desire to fulfill their role in the Church's apostolate through membership of the Legion.
- Are prepared to fulfill each each and every duty which active membership of the Legion involves.

A person who wishes to join the Legion must apply for membership in a presidium.

The presidium is a local group of the Legion (ex. Saint Veronica.)

Types of Membership
Active: These members attend weekly meetings, pray the required Legion prayers (The Catena Legions) and perform two hours of assigned Legion work weekly, usually with a partner.

Auxiliary Member: The Auxiliary membership consists of those people who are unable to assume the duties of active membership. They associate themselves with the Legion by undertaking a service of prayer in the name of the Legion, they sign up to pray the rosary and the Legion prayers in their leaflet daily. If they are already praying the rosary for another intention, there is no need to pray another one. They just have to pray the Tessera prayers to be a auxiliary member.
