Description
Since, September 13, 1997 on the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross,
St. Veronica's Parish Community has been blessed and privileged to have
a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration chapel. The Adoration Chapel, located
in the rear of the rectory, is open 24 hours per day, seven days per
week. There, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is present in the Blessed
Sacrament. Throughout the day and night, our Lord is constantly adored.
Adorers typically sign up for one or more Holy Hours per week to ensure
that our Lord is never left alone. The chapel is available for anyone
to pay a visit for a minute, and hour or more.
In his encyclical, "Ecclesia de Eucharistia", our late Holy
Father, John Paul II talks about Eucharistic Adoration by saying:
"The worship of the Eucharist outside of the Mass is of inestimable
value for the life of the Church. This worship is strictly linked to
the celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice. The presence of Christ
under the sacred species reserved after Mass - a presence which lasts
as long as the species of bread and of wine remain derives from the
celebration of the sacrifice and is directed towards communion, both
sacramental and spiritual. It is the responsibility of Pastors to encourage,
also by their personal witness, the practice of Eucharistic adoration,
and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in particular, as well as prayer
of adoration before Christ present under the Eucharistic species.
It is pleasant to spend time with him, to lie close to his breast like
the Beloved Disciple (cf. Jn 13:25) and to feel the infinite love present
in his heart. If in our time Christians must be distinguished above
all by the "art of prayer", how can we not feel a renewed
need to spend time in spiritual converse, in silent adoration, in heartfelt
love before Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament? How often, dear
brother and sisters, have I experienced this, and drawn from it strength,
consolation and support!" (Ecclesia de Eucharistia: 25).
Our Pastor, Father Brendan Williams, encourages all parishioners to
participate in Perpetual Adoration with the following words: "One
hour before the Blessed Sacrament will replace hundreds of hours of
fruitless struggle and effort in getting our lives together, and bring
harmony and peace to our families. The words of the Lord: "Come
to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I
will give you rest" (Mtt 11:28), surely are most thoroughly fulfilled
when we respond to His invitation to the Adoration Chapel." (Pastors
